The Climate Project (TCP) is an initiative designed to raise awareness and encourage positive action on global warming and climate change through live slide show presentations by individuals trained by Al Gore. TCP’s organizational model is unique because it draws upon trained Presenters representing a broad cross-section of society in order to directly engage citizens in solving the climate crisis.
Mr. Gore founded the project in June 2006, following the release of his Academy Award-winning film, An Inconvenient Truth. Mr. Gore has given the slide show featured in the film over 1000 times worldwide, and now his trained Presenters serve to multiply that impact.
When information is communicated by people with whom listeners feel a connection – that is, people not seen as “typical environmentalists” – the impact can be powerful.
While closely linked with Mr. Gore’s TCP in the U.S., The Climate Project – Canada (TCP-Canada) was created by Canadians for Canadians. We aim to carry out a unique method of awareness-raising centered on the person-to-person, regionally-adapted presentation of Gore’s climate change slideshow to public and private audiences of all kinds, by 275 trained TCP-Canada Presenters from a variety of backgrounds.
TCP-Canada’s Mission
The Climate Project – Canada is a non-profit organization and registered Canadian charity aimed at educating the public about climate change through live slide show presentations given by volunteers who have been trained by Al Gore.
Our belief is that by raising the awareness of our fellow citizens about the global climate crisis and informing them about potential solutions, we can work together to preserve the climate balance on which human civilization depends.
Our unique approach to this mission is captured in the training and support of Presenters from a wide variety of professional backgrounds (e.g., business, youth, etc.). TCP-Canada’s national headquarters are located in Montreal, Quebec.
THANKS FOR BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION!
